The Indonesian Covid-19 Task Force recorded that 43 regencies/cities in Indonesia had low mask-wearing compliance rates during the period of October 18-24, 2021. These 43 areas showed mask-wearing compliance below 60%.
Five areas even recorded 0% mask-wearing compliance. These five areas are East Seram Regency, Bima Regency, Rote Ndao Regency, Bitung City, and Solok City.
Thirty-eight areas had mask-wearing compliance rates ranging from 61% to 75%. Furthermore, 92 areas had mask-wearing compliance rates ranging from 76% to 90%.
Nevertheless, the majority of areas in Indonesia have high mask-wearing compliance rates. A total of 185 regencies/cities recorded mask-wearing compliance rates ranging from 91% to 100%.
The Covid-19 Task Force monitored mask-wearing compliance among 6.54 million people in Indonesia. A total of 963.77 million points were monitored by officers, including airports, stations, malls, offices, schools, tourist attractions, places of worship, and restaurants/cafes.
Mask use, especially double-masking or using N95 masks, is crucial in preventing the spread of the coronavirus. In addition, the public is urged to maintain physical distancing and wash their hands with soap.
