Jakarta, the Special Capital Region of Jakarta, had the second-lowest prevalence of stunting among toddlers in Indonesia in 2022. According to the Indonesian Ministry of Health's Indonesian Nutritional Status Survey (SSGI), the prevalence of stunting among toddlers in the capital city was 14.8% last year.
This means that Jakarta was able to reduce the number of stunted toddlers by 2 percentage points from the previous year. In the 2021 SSGI, the prevalence of stunting among toddlers in the province reached 16.8%.
The stunting rate in the capital city is below the threshold set by the World Health Organization (WHO) standard of 20%. This indicates that stunting in Jakarta is still relatively low.
Based on its regions, three cities had a higher-than-average prevalence of stunting among toddlers compared to the Jakarta average. The remaining three cities were below the provincial average.
Kepulauan Seribu had the highest prevalence of stunting among toddlers in Jakarta in the 2022 SSGI, reaching 20.5%. This figure is up 1.2 percentage points from 19.3% in 2021.
North Jakarta ranked second with the highest prevalence of stunting among toddlers in Jakarta at 18.5%. West Jakarta followed with a prevalence of 15.2%.
On the other hand, the lowest prevalence of stunting among toddlers in the capital city was in South Jakarta at 11.9%.
