The Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) recorded 70 regencies/cities with a Covid-19 death rate above the national average, currently recorded at 0.05 deaths per 100,000 population per week, data as of Wednesday, August 31, 2022.
The five regencies/cities with the highest number of Covid-19 deaths, exceeding 1.07 deaths per 100,000 population per week, are Teluk Bintuni (1.45 deaths per 100,000 population per week), Barito Selatan (1.42 deaths per 100,000 population per week), Bangli (1.3 deaths per 100,000 population per week), Banggai Laut (1.27 deaths per 100,000 population per week), and Buton Tengah (1.07 deaths per 100,000 population per week).
A national Covid-19 data recapitulation from the Ministry of Health shows an increase in Covid-19 deaths in most regencies/cities outside Java. Twelve regencies/cities recorded a higher daily number of Covid-19 deaths than previously, while three regencies/cities recorded lower numbers.
Areas outside Java with the highest Covid-19 death rates include Teluk Bintuni (1.45 deaths per 100,000 population per week), Barito Selatan (1.42 deaths per 100,000 population per week), and Bangli (1.3 deaths per 100,000 population per week).
Although Covid-19 transmission has decreased in some areas, the government urges everyone to help reduce transmission by consistently wearing masks, maintaining physical distance, and frequently washing hands with soap and running water. Avoiding crowds and reducing mobility also contribute to suppressing the spread of the coronavirus.
