Anticipating the impact of the continuously rising Omicron variant, 214 regencies/cities aggressively conducted Covid-19 tests in the last week, exceeding the national average. Data from Tuesday, April 19, 2022, shows a national average of 264.38 tests per week.
The top five, starting from the highest, are Pandeglang, Kotawaringin Barat, Maluku Tengah, Banyuasin, and Kubu Raya, with weekly test numbers of 995, 984, 945, 915, and 906 people respectively.
Pandeglang ranks first, with 995 tests per week. The latest positive rate is 0.3 percent, lower than the previous week's percentage.
Next is Kotawaringin Barat, with a population of 317,880. In an effort to combat the Covid-19 pandemic, 984 tests were conducted per week. The positive rate is 0.51 percent, also lower than the previous week.
Following this, Maluku Tengah conducted 945 tests per week; Banyuasin recorded 915 tests per week; and Kubu Raya, with a population of 594,260, recorded 906 tests per week.
In anticipation of the impact of Omicron in various regions, based on a recapitulation of national Covid data, 231 regencies/cities in Indonesia actively reported a higher number of weekly tests than the previous week. Meanwhile, 155 other regencies/cities recorded a lower number of weekly tests compared to the previous week.
Some of the regions outside Java with the highest number of weekly tests include Kotawaringin Barat (984 tests), Maluku Tengah (945 tests), and Banyuasin (915 tests).
Although Covid-19 transmission has decreased in some areas, the government urges everyone to continue reducing Covid-19 transmission by always wearing masks, maintaining distance, and frequently washing hands with soap and running water. Avoiding crowds and reducing mobility also contribute to suppressing the spread of the coronavirus.
