In terms of percentage, the top five countries with the highest increase in deaths are South Africa, Zimbabwe, Ivory Coast, Tunisia, and Mauritius. The total deaths in these five countries as of Wednesday, October 5, 2022, amounted to 28, with a weekly growth rate above 0 percent.
South Africa recorded the highest increase in Covid-19 deaths in Africa, with weekly growth reaching 300 percent. Worldometer recorded 16 deaths in the country, an increase compared to the previous week's reported four deaths.
Zimbabwe follows in second place. Compared to the previous week, deaths in this country grew by 300 percent. Yesterday's daily death toll in this country was recorded at four. Deaths in Ivory Coast increased by 100%, Tunisia recorded five deaths (up 66.67%), and Mauritius recorded one death (unchanged from the previous week).
Looking at the number of reported deaths, the highest number of deaths in the last seven days in Africa occurred in South Africa with 16 deaths. Death reports in this country increased by 300% compared to last week. Following this, Tunisia reported the largest number with five deaths (up 66.67%), Zimbabwe recorded four deaths (up 300%), Ivory Coast recorded two deaths (up 100%), and Mauritius recorded one death (unchanged from the previous week).
