Based on national Covid-19 data, 160 regencies/cities aggressively conducted suspect testing, exceeding the national average weekly percentage. As of Thursday, April 14, 2022, the national average was 6.29 percent. This suspect testing data is calculated based on the number of suspected individuals and close contacts compared to the total number of people tested in each region, subsequently reported to the Ministry of Health.
The top five, starting from the highest, are Pangandaran, North Padang Lawas, Barito Timur, Padang Lawas, and Simalungun, with ratios of 76.08 percent, 70.56 percent, 67 percent, 62.27 percent, and 57.51 percent respectively.
Pangandaran ranks first. With a population of 407,350, its weekly suspect testing percentage is 76.08 percent. The latest positive rate is 0.65 percent, lower than the previous week.
Next is North Padang Lawas, with a population of 293,240. In its efforts to combat the Covid-19 pandemic, its weekly suspect testing percentage reached 70.56 percent. The positive rate is 0 percent, also lower than the previous week.
Barito Timur recorded a weekly suspect testing percentage of 67 percent. Padang Lawas, with a population of 305,310, recorded 62.27 percent, and Simalungun recorded 57.51 percent.
In anticipation of the Omicron impact in various regions, based on national Covid-19 data recapitulation, 139 regencies/cities in Indonesia actively reported a higher weekly suspect testing percentage than the previous week. Meanwhile, 233 other regencies/cities recorded a lower weekly suspect testing percentage compared to the previous week.
Some of the regions outside Java with the highest weekly suspect testing percentage ratios include North Padang Lawas, Barito Timur, and Padang Lawas, with percentages of 70.56 percent, 67 percent, and 62.27 percent respectively.
Although Covid-19 transmission has decreased in some areas, the government urges everyone to continue reducing Covid-19 transmission by consistently wearing masks, maintaining physical distance, and frequently washing hands with soap and running water. Avoiding crowds and reducing mobility also contribute to suppressing the spread of the coronavirus.
