The Ministry of Social Affairs (Kemensos) reported that the budget for the direct cash assistance (BLT) for cooking oil reached Rp6.4 trillion. This assistance was disbursed from April 4 to 21, 2022.
Specifically, the government disbursed Rp6.19 trillion for the cooking oil BLT. This amount will be given to 20.65 million beneficiary families (KPM) with a nominal value of Rp300,000 per recipient.
Meanwhile, there is also a budget of Rp260.38 billion for the disbursement of the cooking oil BLT. The distribution of this assistance was carried out through PT Pos Indonesia with a cost of Rp13,850 per disbursement.
There were 18.8 million recipients of the cash cooking oil assistance disbursed through PT Pos Indonesia. Meanwhile, there were 1.85 million recipients of non-cash cooking oil assistance through Himbara (a group of state-owned banks).
The majority of cooking oil BLT recipients were pure staple food recipients, totaling 10.65 million people. Meanwhile, there were 8.15 million recipients of the Family Hope Program (PKH) and Staple Food BLT for cooking oil, and 1.85 million recipients of the pure PKH.
The provision of this cooking oil BLT came in response to the rising price of cooking oil due to the surge in palm oil prices in the international market.
