The Omicron (B.1.1.529) variant of the Covid-19 virus continues to spread globally, reaching 4.73 million cases by Saturday, November 12, 2022. According to GISAID data, the United States has recorded the highest number of Omicron cases, with 1.9 million cases. This represents 40.21 percent of the total global Omicron cases.
The United Kingdom follows in second place. Compared to the previous week, the number of Omicron cases in the UK grew by 0.36 percent, reaching 1.34 million cases. Daily statistics show a 0.04 percent increase compared to the previous day, also totaling 1.34 million cases.
Next is Denmark with 318,310 Omicron cases (up 0.96%). France saw a 1.47 percent increase in Omicron cases compared to the previous week, reaching 298,990 cases, while Austria saw a 4.18 percent increase, reaching 122,270 cases.
In Indonesia, the number of Omicron cases reached 26,352, a 0.46 percent increase compared to the previous day. Since its initial detection, the number of Omicron cases in Indonesia has continued to rise.
The Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) urges everyone to remain vigilant in the face of the global surge in Omicron cases. The public is advised to consistently adhere to the 3M health protocols: wearing masks, maintaining distance, and washing hands.
