Anticipating the impact of the continuously rising Omicron variant, 86 regencies/cities aggressively conducted specimen examinations exceeding the national average. Data as of Wednesday, March 29, 2023, shows the national average examination rate at 95.23 specimens per week.
The top five, starting from the highest, are Bekasi, Denpasar City, Gresik, Sidoarjo, and Kupang City, with weekly specimen counts of 992, 986, 917, 906, and 891 specimens respectively.
Bekasi ranks first, with 992 specimens examined per week. The latest positive rate is 3.58 percent, a decrease from the previous week.
Next is Denpasar City. In an effort to combat the COVID-19 pandemic, 986 specimens were examined per week. The positive rate in this region is 1.91 percent, an increase from the previous week.
Specimen examinations totaled 917 per week in Gresik, 906 per week in Sidoarjo, and 891 per week in Kupang City.
In anticipation of the impact of Omicron in various regions, based on a recapitulation of national COVID-19 data, 111 regencies/cities in Indonesia actively reported daily specimen examination numbers higher than before. Meanwhile, 64 other regencies/cities recorded lower specimen examination numbers compared to the previous week.
Outside of Java, areas with the highest number of specimen examinations include Denpasar City, Kupang City, and Sikka, with 986, 891, and 883 specimens examined respectively.
Although COVID-19 transmission has decreased in some areas, the government urges everyone to continue reducing COVID-19 transmission by consistently wearing masks, maintaining physical distance, and frequently washing hands with soap and running water. Avoiding crowds and reducing mobility also contribute to suppressing the spread of the coronavirus.
