This week's Covid-19 statistics in Europe still depict a concerning situation compared to the previous week, due to the continued increase in the number of deaths. This week, 15 countries recorded an increase in deaths, while nine others recorded fewer deaths than the previous week.
In terms of percentage, the top five countries with the highest increase in deaths are the Netherlands, Belgium, Finland, Estonia, and the United Kingdom. The total deaths in these five countries as of Tuesday, October 18, 2022, amounted to 540, with a weekly growth exceeding 84.55 percent.
The Netherlands recorded the highest increase in Covid-19 deaths in Europe, with weekly growth reaching 271.43 percent. Worldometer recorded 26 deaths in the country, an increase compared to the previous week's reported seven deaths.
Belgium follows in second place. Compared to the previous week, deaths in this country grew by 117.65 percent. Yesterday's daily death toll in the country was recorded at 37. Deaths in Finland increased by 100%, deaths in Estonia increased by 90.91%, and the UK recorded 454 deaths (an increase of 84.55%).
Looking at the number of reported deaths, the highest number of deaths in the last seven days in Europe occurred in Germany, with 885 deaths. Death reports in this country increased by 34.91% compared to the previous week. Following Germany, Russia reported the highest number of deaths with 702 (a decrease of 4.62%), Italy with 469 deaths (an increase of 25.74%), the UK with 454 deaths (an increase of 84.55%), and France with 360 deaths (an increase of 6.82%).
The total number of deaths in Europe over the past seven days was recorded at 3,870. This accounts for 48.39 percent of global deaths caused by the Covid-19 virus, totaling 7,997 deaths. The number of deaths in Europe increased compared to the previous seven-day accumulation of 3,367 deaths.
