The Indonesian International Student Mobility Awards (IISMA) is a student exchange scholarship program funded by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (Kemendikbudristek), the Indonesian Endowment Fund for Education (LPDP), and the Ministry of Finance.
IISMA applications have shown significant and consistent growth. Since its launch in 2021, initially only open to undergraduate students, it received 2,551 applications.
In 2022, the program expanded to include vocational students, resulting in a threefold increase in applicants to 7,522. This comprised 7,522 undergraduate and 3,506 vocational students.
In 2023, the number of applicants rose again to 7,714, consisting of 7,714 undergraduate and 1,456 vocational students.
Most recently, IISMA 2024 saw a record-high 15,211 applicants, comprising 12,268 undergraduate and 2,943 vocational students.
“This rapid increase highlights the appeal and relevance of the IISMA program, which continues to provide quality educational opportunities for both undergraduate and vocational students,” wrote Kemendikbud on its official website on Thursday, March 14, 2024.
However, only 3,330 students were selected as awardees this year. The IISMA selection results were announced on Wednesday, March 20, 2024.
