Anticipating the impact of the rising Omicron variant, 135 regencies/cities aggressively conducted Covid-19 testing above the national average. Data from the week of November 13, 2022, shows a national average of 0.43 tests per 1000 people per week.
The top five cities with the highest number of tests per 1000 people per week are: Central Jakarta (5.59), South Jakarta (5.43), Balikpapan (4.33), Badung (4.2), and West Jakarta (3.86).
Central Jakarta ranks first. With a population of 913,720, the number of tests conducted was 5.59 per 1000 people per week. The latest positive rate is 28.83 percent, an increase from the previous week.
South Jakarta follows. In an effort to combat the Covid-19 pandemic, 5.43 tests per 1000 people per week were conducted. The positive rate in this area is 25.58 percent, also an increase from the previous week.
Balikpapan recorded 4.33 tests per 1000 people per week. Badung, with a population of 727,950, recorded 4.2 tests per 1000 people per week, and West Jakarta recorded 3.86 tests per 1000 people per week.
In anticipation of the impact of Omicron in various regions, based on a national Covid-19 data recapitulation, 145 regencies/cities in Indonesia actively reported a higher number of daily tests than the previous week. Conversely, 111 regencies/cities recorded a lower number of tests compared to the previous week.
Outside of Java, areas with the highest number of tests include Balikpapan (4.33 tests per 1000 people per week), Badung (4.2), and Mimika (2.23).
Although Covid-19 transmission has decreased in some areas, the government urges everyone to continue reducing transmission by wearing masks, maintaining distance, and frequently washing hands with soap and running water. Avoiding crowds and reducing mobility also contribute to curbing the spread of the coronavirus.
