GISAID reported that as of Saturday, January 22, 2022, the number of Omicron (B.1.1.529) variant Covid-19 cases in Indonesia had reached 1,255. This represents an increase of 85 cases compared to the previous day, and a weekly growth of 117.88 percent.
This number places Indonesia first in Southeast Asia. Singapore remains second with 1,169 Omicron cases.
Thailand reported a 79.31 percent increase in Omicron cases compared to the previous week. Daily figures show a 0.81 percent increase compared to the previous day.
Malaysia reported 463 Omicron cases (a 43.79 percent increase), Cambodia saw a 245.65 percent increase to 159 cases compared to the previous week, and the Philippines reported 43 Omicron cases (unchanged from the previous report).
GISAID's report also stated that it has detected a total of 506,200 Omicron Covid-19 cases worldwide. This is an increase compared to the previous week's total of 348,410 cases.
