Highest Record of Active Corona Cases in Jakarta

The number of new positive Covid-19 cases in DKI Jakarta continues to increase following the easing of Large-Scale Social Restrictions (PSBB) since June 5th. The average number of cases over the last seven days (July 10-16) reached 301, a threefold increase compared to the average of 90 new cases between May 30 and June 5.

Active Covid-19 cases in Jakarta have also peaked again. Data as of July 16th recorded 4,887 active cases. This is the highest since the outbreak began in Indonesia on March 2, 2020.

The Governor of DKI Jakarta, Anies Baswedan, has chosen to extend the transitional PSBB until July 30th. The reason is that the reproduction number of the coronavirus is still above 1.0, and the positivity rate reached 5.9% in the sixth week. This figure is above the World Health Organization's recommendation of a safe limit of 5%.
