Based on national Covid-19 data, 119 regencies/cities aggressively conducted specimen testing above the national average. As of Wednesday, January 11, 2023, the national average was 119.16 specimens per week.
The top five, starting with the highest, are Cimahi City, Cilegon City, Cirebon, Kediri, and Batam City, with 995, 982, 930, 911, and 909 specimens per week, respectively.
Cimahi City ranks first. With a population of 613,240, it recorded 995 specimens tested per week. The latest positive rate is 3.48 percent, down from the previous week.
Next is Cilegon City, with a population of 458,240. In efforts to combat the Covid-19 pandemic, 982 specimens were tested per week. The positive rate is 1.25 percent, up from the previous week.
Specimen testing in Cirebon recorded 930 specimens per week, Kediri 911 specimens per week, and Batam City 909 specimens per week.
In anticipation of the Omicron impact, national Covid-19 data shows 102 regencies/cities actively reporting higher daily specimen testing numbers than before. Meanwhile, 140 other regencies/cities recorded lower specimen testing numbers compared to the previous week.
Outside Java, areas with the highest number of specimens tested include Batam City, Gianyar, and Banjarmasin City, with 909, 902, and 849 specimens, respectively.
Although Covid-19 transmission has decreased in some areas, the government urges everyone to continue reducing transmission by wearing masks, maintaining distance, and frequently washing hands with soap and running water. Avoiding crowds and reducing mobility also contribute to curbing the spread of the coronavirus.
