89% of Covid-19 Isolation Beds in Bandung Regency Occupied

Data from the Bandung Regency government shows that the hospital bed occupancy rate (BOR) in the area reached 89%. Of the 333 available beds, 297 are occupied. This condition includes seven Covid-19 referral hospitals up to June 16-17, 2021.

KPBS Pangalengan General Hospital (RSU) only has nine isolation beds specifically for Covid-19. All of these facilities are occupied, resulting in a 100% BOR.

The same situation also occurs at Al Ihsan Regional Hospital (RSU), the largest referral facility in Bandung Regency. Of the 167 available isolation beds, 153 are occupied. As a result, the occupancy rate reaches 92%.

A surge in Covid-19 cases occurred throughout the Bandung Raya region (Bandung City, Bandung Regency, West Bandung Regency, Cimahi City, and Sumedang Regency). West Java Governor Ridwan Kamil stated that the region is on Covid-19 alert level 1 because it is classified as a red zone. This is because the BOR in Bandung Raya hospitals reached 84.19%, above the World Health Organization (WHO) safe limit of 60%, as reported by Antara.

The government continues to urge the public to practice the 3M's to suppress the spread of the coronavirus. Everyone needs to get used to wearing masks, maintaining distance, and washing their hands with soap and running water.
