With the increasing rate of Omicron in Indonesia, currently 175 regencies/cities are aggressively conducting weekly suspect examination percentages above the national average. Data as of Sunday, October 2, 2022, shows the national average examination rate at 10.65 percent. This suspect examination data is calculated based on the number of suspected individuals and close contacts compared to the number of people examined in each region, which is then reported to the Ministry of Health.
The top five, starting from the highest percentage of weekly suspect examinations, are Simalungun (92.84%), Tasikmalaya (84.7%), Mandailing Natal (79.43%), Banggai Laut (74.42%), and Pangandaran (73.8%).
Simalungun is ranked first. With a population of 877,710, the weekly suspect examination percentage here is recorded at 92.84 percent. The latest positive rate is 5.91 percent. The positive rate in this region increased compared to the previous week's percentage.
Next is Tasikmalaya. In an effort to counter the Covid-19 pandemic, the weekly suspect examination percentage is 84.7 percent. The positive rate in this region is recorded at 0.58 percent, or has decreased compared to the previous week's percentage.
Then, Mandailing Natal recorded 79.43 percent, Banggai Laut recorded 74.42 percent, and Pangandaran recorded 73.8 percent for the weekly suspect examination percentage.
Anticipating the impact of Omicron in various regions, based on the national Covid data recapitulation, there are 177 regencies/cities in Indonesia that actively report a higher daily weekly suspect examination percentage than before. Meanwhile, 162 other regencies/cities recorded a lower weekly suspect examination percentage compared to the previous week's examination.
Some of the regions outside Java with the highest weekly suspect examination percentage ratio include Simalungun, Mandailing Natal, and Banggai Laut, with weekly suspect examination percentages of 92.84 percent, 79.43 percent, and 74.42 percent, respectively.
Although Covid-19 transmission in some areas has decreased, the government urges everyone to continue to participate in reducing Covid-19 transmission by always wearing masks, maintaining distance, and frequently washing hands with soap and running water. Avoiding crowds and reducing mobility also contribute to suppressing the rate of coronavirus transmission.
