Anticipating the impact of the continuously rising Omicron variant, 159 regencies/cities aggressively conducted COVID-19 testing above the national average. Data from Tuesday, July 5, 2022, shows a national average of 0.92 tests per 1,000 people per week.
The top five, starting with the highest, are South Jakarta, Central Jakarta, Badung, East Jakarta, and South Tangerang, with respective figures of 9.75, 8.84, 6.1, 5.9, and 5.8 tests per 1,000 people per week.
South Jakarta ranks first, with 9.75 tests per 1,000 people per week. The latest positive rate is 8.13 percent, down from the previous week.
Next is Central Jakarta, with a population of 913,720. In efforts to combat the COVID-19 pandemic, 8.84 tests per 1,000 people per week were conducted. The positive rate is 7.16 percent, also down from the previous week.
Badung recorded 6.1 tests per 1,000 people per week, East Jakarta 5.9, and South Tangerang 5.8.
Anticipating the impact of Omicron across various regions, based on national COVID-19 data, 220 regencies/cities in Indonesia actively reported a higher number of daily tests compared to the previous week. Conversely, 139 regencies/cities recorded a lower number of tests.
Outside of Java, areas with the highest number of tests include Badung (6.1 tests per 1,000 people per week), Balikpapan (5.63), and Mimika (5.11).
Although COVID-19 transmission has decreased in some areas, the government urges everyone to continue reducing transmission by consistently wearing masks, maintaining physical distance, and frequently washing hands with soap and running water. Avoiding crowds and reducing mobility also contribute to curbing the spread of the coronavirus.
