With the increasing rate of Omicron in Indonesia, currently 112 regencies/cities are aggressively conducting specimen examinations above the national average. Data as of Monday, March 13, 2023, shows the national average examination is 90.64 specimens per week.
The top five, starting from the highest number of specimens examined per week, are Garut (917 specimens), Medan City (879 specimens), Gresik (855 specimens), Karawang (833 specimens), and Cirebon City (818 specimens).
Garut is ranked first. The number of specimens examined there is recorded at 917 specimens per week. The latest positive rate is 1.98 percent. The positive rate in this region increased compared to the previous week's ratio.
Next is Medan City. In an effort to prevent the Covid-19 pandemic, the number of specimens examined was 879 per week. The positive rate in this region is recorded at 0.27 percent, which has decreased compared to the previous week's percentage.
Furthermore, 855 specimens were examined per week in Gresik, while Karawang recorded 833 specimens per week, and Cirebon City, with a population of 322,250, recorded 818 specimens per week.
Anticipating the impact of Omicron in various regions, based on the national Covid data recapitulation, there are 131 regencies/cities in Indonesia that actively report the daily number of specimens examined with higher figures than before. Meanwhile, 88 other regencies/cities recorded a lower number of specimens examined compared to the previous week.
Areas outside Java with the highest number of specimens examined include Medan City, Makassar City, and Bandar Lampung City, with 879, 768, and 748 specimens examined, respectively.
Although Covid-19 transmission has decreased in some areas, the government urges everyone to continue to reduce Covid-19 transmission by always wearing masks, maintaining distance, and frequently washing hands with soap and running water. Avoiding crowds and reducing mobility also contribute to suppressing the rate of coronavirus transmission.
