The COVID-19 pandemic wave has not yet subsided. Citing data from *Worldometers*, as of today, Tuesday (July 12, 2022), there are still approximately 20 million active COVID-19 cases globally.
Currently, various countries worldwide are experiencing a surge in COVID-19 transmission, believed to be due to the emergence of the new Omicron subvariants BA.4 and BA.5.
By country, the United States (US) still has the highest number of active COVID-19 cases globally, reaching 3.4 million cases as of today.
France is in second place with a total of 2.1 million active COVID-19 cases. Following are Germany and Italy, with 1.64 million and 1.3 million active cases respectively.
Brazil has 1 million active cases, Vietnam 941,200 cases, Taiwan 714,100 cases, Poland 570,200 cases, Mexico 569,900 cases, and Spain 545,400 cases.
Indonesia currently has around 20,000 active cases and ranks 62nd globally.
Overall, approximately 561 million people worldwide have been infected with COVID-19. 6.37 million have died, and 534.6 million have recovered.
The implementation of health protocols is still expected to prevent the spread of the Corona virus. The public is also encouraged to get booster vaccinations to strengthen their immunity.
