With the increasing rate of Omicron in Indonesia, currently 149 regencies/cities are aggressively conducting weekly testing percentages above the national average. Data as of Tuesday, July 19, 2022, shows the national average testing rate at 77.66 percent. This testing achievement data is calculated based on the number of people tested compared to the weekly target of each region, which is then reported to the Ministry of Health.
The top five, starting from the highest percentage of people tested per week, are Badung (903.57%), Balikpapan City (732.92%), Mimika (719.64%), Supiori (576.19%), and Tambrauw (564.29%).
Badung is ranked first. With a population of 727,950, the weekly percentage of people tested is recorded at 903.57 percent. The latest positive rate is 5.03 percent. The positive rate in this region increased compared to the previous week's ratio.
Next is Balikpapan City. The population in this region is recorded at 646,020. In an effort to combat the Covid-19 pandemic, the weekly percentage of people tested is 732.92 percent. The positive rate in this region is recorded at 1.84 percent, or higher than the previous week's ratio.
Then, Mimika, with a population of 221,810, recorded a weekly testing percentage of 719.64 percent; Supiori, with a population of 21,170, recorded a weekly testing percentage of 576.19 percent; and Tambrauw recorded a percentage of 564.29 percent.
Anticipating the impact of Omicron in various regions, based on the national Covid data recapitulation, there are 319 regencies/cities in Indonesia actively reporting higher daily weekly testing percentages than before. Meanwhile, 66 other regencies/cities recorded lower weekly testing percentages compared to the previous week.
Areas outside Java with the highest weekly testing percentages include Badung, Balikpapan City, and Mimika, with weekly testing percentages of 903.57 percent, 732.92 percent, and 719.64 percent, respectively.
Although Covid-19 transmission has decreased in some areas, the government urges everyone to continue to reduce Covid-19 transmission by always wearing masks, maintaining distance, and frequently washing hands with soap and running water. Avoiding crowds and reducing mobility also contribute to suppressing the rate of coronavirus transmission.
