COVID-19 statistics in Europe this week still depict a concerning situation compared to the previous week, due to the continued increase in the number of deaths. This week, 23 countries recorded an increase in deaths, while 11 other countries recorded fewer deaths than the previous week.
In terms of percentage, the top five countries with the highest increase in deaths are Turkey, Montenegro, the United Kingdom, the Czech Republic, and Greece. The total deaths in these five countries as of Sunday, July 24, 2022, amounted to 842, with a weekly growth exceeding 107.14 percent.
Turkey ranks first, with a 600 percent increase in weekly deaths. In this country, Worldometer recorded 28 deaths, an increase compared to the previous week's reported four deaths.
Montenegro follows in second place. Compared to the previous week, deaths in this country increased by 500 percent. Yesterday's daily death toll in this country was recorded at six. The UK recorded 718 deaths (up 255.45%), deaths in the Czech Republic increased by 166.67%, and deaths in Greece increased by 107.14%.
Looking at the number of reported deaths, the highest seven-day death toll in Europe occurred in Italy with 947 deaths. Death reports in this country increased by 20.79% compared to the previous week. Following Italy, Spain reported 839 deaths (up 49.02%), France reported 774 deaths (up 48.85%), the UK reported 718 deaths (up 255.45%), and Germany reported 644 deaths (down 4.02%).
The total number of deaths in Europe over the past seven days was recorded at 5,034. This accounts for 38.14 percent of global deaths caused by the COVID-19 virus, totaling 13,200. The number of deaths in Europe increased compared to the previous seven-day accumulation of 3,723.
