The Indonesian Covid-19 Task Force announced 2,069 new deaths on Tuesday, July 27, 2021. This figure once again broke the record for the highest daily death toll throughout the pandemic in Indonesia.
The additional number of Covid-19 deaths in Indonesia increased by 39% from the previous day, July 26, 2021, which reached 1,487. As a result, the total number of Covid-19 deaths in Indonesia has now reached 86,835.
The record of domestic Covid-19 deaths has continued to increase over the past week. The government recorded 1,566 deaths in a single day on Friday, July 23, 2021, followed by fluctuating numbers.
According to the Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment, Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, a number of factors underlie the increase in patient deaths. These include full hospital capacity, patients arriving with poor saturation levels, and patients dying while self-isolating. This situation occurs because Covid-19 sufferers are not monitored when self-isolating at home.
The coronavirus has infected 45,203 more people who tested positive today. However, the recovery rate is also the highest throughout the pandemic. 47,128 patients have been declared recovered. As a result, the government has detected 3,239,936 cases since the virus was first detected in March 2020.
The government continues to urge the public to help curb the spread of the coronavirus. People need to wash their hands with soap, wear masks, and maintain social distancing. Avoiding crowds and reducing mobility also contribute to suppressing Covid-19 cases.
