Indonesia recorded an additional 1,747 deaths from the Covid-19 coronavirus on Wednesday, August 4, 2021. This brings the total death toll in the country to 100,636.
East Java reported the highest number of deaths, with 21,670. Central Java follows with 20,947 coronavirus deaths.
DKI Jakarta is in third place with a total of 12,531 coronavirus deaths. West Java reported 9,960 deaths from the virus.
Other provinces had death tolls below four thousand. For example, Yogyakarta recorded 3,634 deaths, East Kalimantan 3,616, Riau 2,757, Bali 2,306, Lampung 2,298, Banten 2,250, and South Sumatra 2,201.
West Sulawesi had the lowest number of coronavirus deaths nationally, with 183. Maluku reported 233 deaths, Gorontalo 242, and North Maluku 244.
Coronavirus deaths must not be allowed to increase. Therefore, the public needs to participate in preventing further spread of the virus.
One step to curb the spread of the coronavirus is to diligently implement the 3M health protocols: wearing a mask, maintaining distance, and washing hands with soap. In addition, the public is urged to avoid crowds and reduce mobility.
