Weekly Household Expenditure on Rice in Bulukumba Regency

The average expenditure of residents in Bulukumba Regency to purchase superior quality rice in 2023 was Rp17,390 per capita per week. This figure is lower than the previous year's expenditure, which was recorded at Rp17,910 per capita per week.

The five largest expenditure items for the rice group in Bulukumba Regency, ranked from highest to lowest expenditure for superior quality rice, were: Rp17,390 per capita per week for superior quality rice; Rp1,353 per capita per week for wheat flour; Rp540.44 per capita per week for corn with husks; Rp388.81 per capita per week for glutinous rice; and the lowest expenditure was Rp24.2 per capita per week for other types of rice.

Average per capita expenditure is the cost incurred for the consumption of all household members over a month, including purchases, gifts, and self-produced goods, divided by the number of household members. Household consumption is categorized into food and non-food consumption, regardless of the origin of the goods, and is limited to household needs only, excluding consumption/expenditure for business purposes or given to other parties.

Expenditure for food consumption is calculated weekly, while non-food consumption is calculated monthly and for the past 12 months. Both food and non-food consumption are then converted into average monthly expenditure. The average per capita consumption/expenditure figures presented in BPS publications are obtained by dividing the total consumption of all households (both consuming food and non-food items) by the total population.

Based on region, the highest expenditure for purchasing superior quality rice was in Manggarai Timur Regency, and the lowest was in Puncak Regency. Bulukumba Regency's expenditure for purchasing superior quality rice ranked 327th. Meanwhile, the national average per capita expenditure for purchasing superior quality rice is Rp257.5 per capita per week.
