The Indonesian Ministry of Health recorded 1,636 foreign arrivals who tested positive for the Covid-19 virus upon arrival in Indonesia between August 1 and September 6, 2021. This is despite their possession of Covid-19-free certificates issued by their respective countries of origin as a travel requirement.
Specifically, 3.5% of these positive cases were Indonesian citizens (WNI), while 0.8% were foreign nationals (WNA).
Flights originating from Saudi Arabia had the highest number of positive cases, with 702 individuals. Malaysia was second, with 582 positive cases.
A further 143 positive cases arrived from the United Arab Emirates, 54 from South Korea, 36 from Japan, 35 from Turkey, and 25 from Taiwan.
These individuals tested positive due to the mandatory PCR test upon arrival in Indonesia. They were required to undergo an eight-day quarantine.
On the seventh day of quarantine, they underwent a second PCR test. If the result was negative, they were released from quarantine on the eighth day.
To prevent the spread of the coronavirus, the public is urged to diligently follow the 3M health protocols: wearing masks, maintaining distance, and washing hands with soap. Furthermore, the public is encouraged to avoid crowds and reduce mobility.
