This week's Covid-19 statistics in Europe show that most countries have recorded a decrease in the number of deaths, a reversal from the previous period where death tolls continued to rise. This week, 15 countries still recorded an increase in deaths, while 16 others recorded fewer deaths than the previous week.
In terms of percentage, the top five countries with the highest increase in deaths are Austria, Montenegro, Estonia, Sweden, and Denmark. The total number of deaths in these five countries for the week ending September 25, 2022, was 92, with weekly growth exceeding 32 percent.
Austria ranks first, with a weekly increase in deaths growing by 208.33 percent. Worldometer recorded 37 deaths in the country, an increase compared to the previous week's reported 12 deaths.
Montenegro follows with a weekly growth in deaths reaching 200 percent. Yesterday's daily death toll in the country was recorded at three. Estonia recorded six deaths (up 50%), Sweden 13 deaths (up 44.44%), and Denmark saw a 32% increase in deaths.
Looking at the number of reported deaths, the highest number of deaths in Europe over the past seven days occurred in Russia, with 714 deaths. Death reports in this country increased by 4.69% compared to the previous week. Following Russia, Germany recorded 525 deaths (down 17.19%), the UK 373 deaths (up 29.97%), Italy 316 deaths (down 14.82%), and Spain 284 deaths (down 49.1%).
The total number of deaths in Europe over the past seven days was 3,072. This accounts for 33.65 percent of global deaths caused by the Covid-19 virus, totaling 9,129. The number of deaths in Europe decreased compared to the previous seven-day accumulation of 4,373 deaths.
