COVID-19 statistics in Europe this week still depict a concerning situation compared to the previous week, due to the continued increase in the number of deaths. This week, 19 countries recorded an increase in deaths, while 13 other countries recorded fewer deaths than the previous week.
In terms of percentage, the top five countries with the highest increase in deaths are Estonia, Malta, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Slovenia, and Lithuania. The total number of deaths in these five countries as of Friday, September 30, 2022, was 57, with a weekly growth exceeding 66.67 percent.
Estonia recorded the highest increase in COVID-19 deaths in Europe, with weekly growth reaching 133.33 percent. Worldometer recorded 14 deaths in the country, an increase compared to the previous week's reported six deaths.
Malta follows in second place. Compared to the previous week, deaths in this country grew by 100 percent. Yesterday's daily death toll was recorded as two. Bosnia and Herzegovina recorded 20 deaths (up 100%), Slovenia recorded 11 deaths (up 83.33%), and Lithuania recorded 10 deaths (up 66.67%).
Looking at the number of reported deaths, the highest number of deaths in the last seven days in Europe occurred in Russia, with 716 deaths. Death reports in this country decreased by 0.56% compared to the previous week. Germany follows with 580 deaths (up 10.9%), Italy with 279 deaths (down 10.29%), France with 224 deaths (up 6.67%), and Spain with 129 deaths (down 51.87%).
The total number of deaths in Europe over the past seven days was 2,669. This accounts for 34.03 percent of global deaths caused by the COVID-19 virus, totaling 7,844. The number of deaths in Europe decreased compared to the previous seven-day accumulation of 3,139 deaths.
