COVID-19 statistics in Europe this week still depict a concerning situation compared to the previous week, due to the continued increase in the number of deaths. This week, 20 countries recorded an increase in deaths, while 11 other countries recorded fewer deaths than the previous week.
In terms of percentage, the top five countries with the highest increase in deaths are Estonia, Malta, Slovenia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and the Czech Republic. The total number of deaths in these five countries as of Saturday, October 1, 2022, was 124, with a weekly growth exceeding 79.07 percent.
Estonia ranks first, with a weekly increase in deaths of 133.33 percent. Worldometer recorded 14 deaths in this country, an increase compared to the previous week's reported six deaths.
Malta follows with a weekly growth in deaths reaching 100 percent. Yesterday's daily death toll in this country was recorded as two. Slovenia recorded 11 deaths (up 83.33%), Bosnia and Herzegovina saw an 81.82% increase in deaths, and the Czech Republic recorded a 79.07% increase.
Looking at the number of reported deaths, the highest number of deaths in the last seven days in Europe occurred in Russia, with 716 deaths. Death reports in this country increased by 0.28% compared to the previous week. Following Russia, Germany recorded 580 deaths (up 33.33%), Italy recorded 279 deaths (down 11.71%), France recorded 224 deaths (up 4.19%), and Spain recorded 129 deaths (down 54.58%).
The total number of deaths in Europe over the past seven days was 2,709. This accounts for 33.44 percent of global deaths caused by the COVID-19 virus, totaling 8,100 deaths. The number of deaths in Europe decreased compared to the previous seven-day accumulation of 2,983 deaths.
