The Covid-19 pandemic impacted all aspects of life, including education globally. Research by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) in collaboration with UNESCO, UNICEF, and the World Bank evaluated the pandemic's impact on education in various countries worldwide. The results showed that students' mental health was the most significantly affected.
The OECD evaluation highlighted the impact of the pandemic on students' mental health and well-being as a primary concern, as 89% of the surveyed countries reported this impact.
Next, the impact of the pandemic on the effectiveness of distance learning strategies was also significant. 70% of countries evaluated the effectiveness of distance learning.
Another crucial impact of Covid-19 was teachers' mental health, reflected in 69% of countries evaluating the pandemic's impact on education. The pandemic and distance learning system negatively affected not only students but also teachers' mental health.
Furthermore, the relationship between parents and students was also seriously impacted by distance learning and school closures (48%), as were non-cognitive impacts such as students' interest in learning (48%).
