Based on the national Covid-19 data recapitulation, 140 regencies/cities aggressively conducted Covid-19 tests exceeding the national average over the past week. Data as of Thursday, February 16, 2023, shows a national average of 115.35 tests per week.
The top five cities with the highest number of tests conducted last week (per week) are: Medan (971 people), Semarang (956 people), Cirebon (930 people), Kediri (919 people), and Sleman (910 people).
Medan ranks first, with 971 tests conducted last week. The latest positive rate is 0.41 percent, an increase from the previous week.
Semarang follows, with 956 tests conducted last week in its efforts to combat the Covid-19 pandemic. The positive rate in this region is 1.15 percent, also an increase from the previous week.
Furthermore, Cirebon recorded 930 tests last week, Kediri recorded 919, and Sleman recorded 910.
In anticipation of the Omicron variant's impact across various regions, the national Covid-19 data recapitulation shows that 46 regencies/cities in Indonesia actively reported a higher number of daily tests last week compared to the previous week. Meanwhile, 64 other regencies/cities recorded a lower number of tests last week compared to the previous week.
Outside of Java, some regions with the highest number of tests last week include Medan (971 people), Deli Serdang (786 people), and Makassar (755 people).
Although Covid-19 transmission has decreased in some areas, the government urges everyone to continue reducing transmission by consistently wearing masks, maintaining physical distance, and frequently washing hands with soap and running water. Avoiding crowds and reducing mobility also contribute to curbing the spread of the coronavirus.
