Based on national Covid-19 data, 150 regencies/cities aggressively conducted Covid-19 tests in the last week, exceeding the national average. As of Tuesday, December 27, 2022, the national average was 139.99 tests per week.
The top five, in descending order, are Bandung Barat, Denpasar City, Gresik, Samarinda City, and Klaten, with 994, 974, 951, 948, and 926 people tested per week, respectively.
Bandung Barat ranks first, with 994 people tested per week. The latest positive rate is 5.73 percent, down from the previous week.
Next is Denpasar City, with 974 people tested per week in its efforts to combat the Covid-19 pandemic. The positive rate is 2.05 percent, up from the previous week.
Gresik recorded 951 tests per week, Samarinda City (population 866,880) recorded 948 tests per week, and Klaten recorded 926 tests per week.
In anticipation of the Omicron impact, national Covid-19 data shows that 111 regencies/cities actively reported a higher number of daily tests in the last week compared to the previous week. Meanwhile, 246 other regencies/cities recorded a lower number of tests compared to the previous week.
Outside of Java, areas with the highest number of tests in the last week include Denpasar City, Samarinda City, and Deli Serdang, with 974, 948, and 911 tests per week, respectively.
Although Covid-19 transmission has decreased in some areas, the government urges everyone to continue reducing transmission by wearing masks, maintaining distance, and frequently washing hands with soap and running water. Avoiding crowds and reducing mobility also contribute to curbing the spread of the coronavirus.
