COVID-19 reports indicate that 2,066 healthcare workers in Indonesia had died from the coronavirus as of 9:40 AM WIB on December 3, 2021. Of this number, 730 (35.4%) were doctors.
Furthermore, 670 nurses died from the coronavirus in Indonesia, representing 32.4% of the total healthcare worker deaths due to the virus.
A total of 398 midwives also perished due to COVID-19. Additionally, 51 medical laboratory technologists (ATLM) and 48 pharmacists died from the coronavirus.
46 dentists died from coronavirus infection. Twelve radiology technicians and eight dental therapists also died from COVID-19.
Meanwhile, seven sanitation workers and five pharmacy personnel died from the coronavirus. Ambulance personnel, electromedical technicians, and epidemiologists who died from COVID-19 numbered four, three, and two, respectively.
These fallen healthcare workers are heroes in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic in Indonesia. To support their struggle, the public needs to participate in preventing COVID-19.
This can be done by diligently implementing the 3M health protocols: wearing masks, maintaining distance, and washing hands with soap. In addition, the public is urged to avoid crowds and reduce mobility.
