Based on national Covid-19 data, 142 regencies/cities aggressively conducted Covid-19 testing above the national average. Data from the week of September 4th, 2022, shows a national average of 0.6 tests per 1,000 people per week.
The top five, ranked from highest to lowest number of tests per 1,000 people per week, are Mimika (6.68 people), South Jakarta (6.42 people), Central Jakarta (6.3 people), West Jakarta (4.51 people), and South Tangerang (4.42 people).
Mimika ranks first. With a population of 221,810, the number of people tested there was 6.68 per 1,000 people per week. The latest positive rate is 3.92 percent, down from the previous week.
Next is South Jakarta. In an effort to combat the Covid-19 pandemic, the number of people tested was 6.42 per 1,000 people per week. The positive rate in this area was 10.95 percent, also down from the previous week.
Covid-19 testing in Central Jakarta recorded 6.3 people per 1,000 people per week, West Jakarta recorded 4.51 people per 1,000 people per week, and South Tangerang recorded 4.42 people per 1,000 people per week.
In anticipation of the Omicron variant's impact, national Covid-19 data shows that 57 regencies/cities in Indonesia actively reported a higher daily number of tests than before. Meanwhile, 277 other regencies/cities recorded a lower number of tests compared to the previous week.
Areas outside Java with the highest number of tests include Mimika, Balikpapan, and Badung, with 6.68, 4.32, and 4.3 people tested per 1,000 respectively.
Although Covid-19 transmission has decreased in some areas, the government urges everyone to continue reducing transmission by wearing masks, maintaining distance, and frequently washing hands with soap and running water. Avoiding crowds and reducing mobility also contribute to curbing the spread of the coronavirus.
