Based on the national Covid-19 data recapitulation, 81 regencies/cities aggressively conducted weekly testing, exceeding the national average. As of Thursday, December 29, 2022, the national average testing rate was recorded at 13.82 percent. This testing achievement data is calculated based on the number of people tested compared to each region's weekly target, which is then reported to the Ministry of Health.
The top five, starting from the highest percentage of people tested per week, are Balikpapan City (385.4%), Purwakarta (239.73%), Gunungsitoli City (217.01%), Kutai Kartanegara (187.61%), and Bontang City (174.73%).
Balikpapan City ranks first. With a population of 646,020, the weekly testing percentage is recorded at 385.4 percent. The latest positive rate is 0.68 percent. The positive rate in this region increased compared to the previous week's ratio.
Next is Purwakarta. The population of this region is recorded at 960,820. In an effort to counter the Covid-19 pandemic, the weekly testing percentage is 239.73 percent. The positive rate in this region is recorded at 0.87 percent, which has decreased compared to the previous week's ratio.
Then, Gunungsitoli City, with a population of 147,940, recorded a weekly testing percentage of 217.01 percent; Kutai Kartanegara recorded 187.61 percent; and Bontang City recorded 174.73 percent.
In anticipation of the Omicron impact in various regions, based on the national Covid-19 data recapitulation, there are 109 regencies/cities in Indonesia that actively report a higher weekly testing percentage than before. Meanwhile, 248 other regencies/cities recorded a lower weekly testing percentage compared to the previous week.
Some of the regions outside Java with the highest weekly testing percentages include Balikpapan City, Gunungsitoli City, and Kutai Kartanegara, with weekly testing percentages of 385.4 percent, 217.01 percent, and 187.61 percent, respectively.
Although Covid-19 transmission has decreased in some areas, the government urges everyone to continue to reduce Covid-19 transmission by always wearing masks, maintaining distance, and frequently washing hands with soap and running water. Avoiding crowds and reducing mobility also contribute to suppressing the spread of the coronavirus.
