Indonesia Ranks Among the Top 10 Safest Countries in the World

Based on the 2018 Gallup Global Law and Order report, Indonesia is among the top 10 safest countries in the world. Indonesia ranked 9th with a score of 89, below Canada (score 90) but above Denmark (score 88). Singapore ranked first with a score of 97. Indonesia's position places it alongside developed nations.

Gallup's Law and Order research surveyed 148,000 adult respondents from 142 countries in 2017. The interviews focused on security in their respective neighborhoods. The survey yielded data ranking countries from safest to least safe based on their scores.

The survey questions were: First, do you trust the local police? Second, do you feel safe walking alone at night in your neighborhood? Third, in the past 12 months, have you or your family lost money or property? Fourth, in the past 12 months, have you been attacked or robbed? Gallup's research revealed a strong correlation between respondents' answers regarding their sense of security, experiences with crime and law enforcement, and external factors related to economic and social development.
