List of Countries with the Highest Secondary School Completion Rates

Every country essentially provides education at certain levels, such as primary, secondary, upper secondary, and higher education. Secondary education is undertaken after citizens complete primary school.

Basic and secondary education are crucial for the survival of citizens to eradicate illiteracy and improve knowledge and self-development.

Many countries even mandate that their citizens complete basic and secondary education. Although there is no fixed parameter regarding the time spent on basic and secondary education, as each country has its own education system.

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) released data on the countries with the highest population completing secondary education in 2021.

Only three countries had 100% of their citizens completing secondary education in 2021: Canada, Luxembourg, and Austria. The proportions of the countries below these three are only slightly lower.

Fourth is Uzbekistan, with 100% of men and 99.9% of women completing secondary education.

Fifth is Kazakhstan, with 100% of men and 99.8% of women completing secondary education.

Sixth is Kyrgyzstan, with 99.8% of men and 100% of women completing secondary education.

Seventh is Croatia, with 100% of men and 97% of women completing secondary education.

Eighth is the United Kingdom, with a balanced achievement of 99.8% for both men and women.

What about Indonesia's position?

UNDP data shows that Indonesia has a significantly lower proportion, with 58.2% of men and 51% of women completing secondary education.
