The top five, starting from the highest, are Sidoarjo, Denpasar City, Gresik, Sikka, and Medan City, with weekly specimen numbers of 989, 984, 955, 860, and 841 specimens respectively.
Sidoarjo ranks first, with 989 specimens examined per week. The latest positive rate is 3.17 percent, an increase from the previous week.
Next is Denpasar City. In efforts to counter the Covid-19 pandemic, 984 specimens were examined per week. The positive rate in this region is 2.07 percent, also higher than the previous week.
Specimen examinations in Gresik totaled 955 per week. Sikka, with a population of 325,260, recorded 860 specimens examined per week, while Medan City recorded 841 specimens per week.
In anticipating the impact of Omicron across various regions, based on national Covid data recapitulation, 86 regencies/cities in Indonesia actively reported a higher daily number of specimens examined than before. Meanwhile, 83 other regencies/cities recorded a lower number of specimens examined compared to the previous week.
Areas outside Java with the highest number of specimens examined include Denpasar City, Sikka, and Medan City, with 984, 860, and 841 specimens respectively.
Although Covid-19 transmission has decreased in some areas, the government urges everyone to continue reducing Covid-19 transmission by consistently wearing masks, maintaining distance, and frequently washing hands with soap and running water. Avoiding crowds and reducing mobility also contribute to suppressing the spread of the coronavirus.
