The top five, starting with the highest number of people tested per 1000 people per week, are Halmahera Tengah (5.77 people), Teluk Bintuni (2.76 people), Balikpapan City (2.25 people), Sabang City (2.24 people), and Central Jakarta City (2.21 people).
Halmahera Tengah ranks first. With a population of 59,226, the number of people tested there is recorded at 5.77 per 1000 people per week. The latest positive rate is 0 percent. The positive rate in this region has decreased compared to the previous week's ratio.
Next is Teluk Bintuni. The population of this region is recorded at 70,555. In an effort to prevent the Covid-19 pandemic, the number of people tested is 2.76 per 1000 people per week. The positive rate in this region is recorded at 0.51 percent, or higher than the previous week's ratio.
Furthermore, Covid-19 testing in Balikpapan City recorded 2.25 people per 1000 people per week; in Sabang City, with a population of 35,309, Covid-19 testing recorded 2.24 people per 1000 people per week; and in Central Jakarta City, Covid-19 testing recorded 2.21 people per 1000 people per week.
Anticipating the impact of Omicron in various regions, based on a recapitulation of national Covid data, there are 162 regencies/cities in Indonesia that actively report a higher daily number of people tested than before. Meanwhile, 62 other regencies/cities recorded a lower number of people tested compared to the previous week.
Areas outside Java with the highest number of people tested include Halmahera Tengah, Teluk Bintuni, and Balikpapan City, with 5.77, 2.76, and 2.25 people tested, respectively.
Although Covid-19 transmission has decreased in some areas, the government urges everyone to continue to reduce Covid-19 transmission by always wearing masks, maintaining distance, and frequently washing hands with soap and running water. Avoiding crowds and reducing mobility also contribute to suppressing the rate of coronavirus transmission.
