Based on national Covid-19 data, 149 regencies/cities aggressively conducted Covid-19 testing above the national average. Data as of Saturday, October 8, 2022, shows a national average of 0.41 tests per 1000 people per week.
The top five, starting from the highest, are South Jakarta, Central Jakarta, Balikpapan, Badung, and East Jakarta, with respective figures of 4.37, 4.28, 3.72, 3.32, and 2.93 tests per 1000 people per week.
South Jakarta ranks first, with 4.37 tests per 1000 people per week. The latest positive rate is 4.98 percent, down from the previous week.
Next is Central Jakarta, with a population of 913,720. In efforts to combat the Covid-19 pandemic, 4.28 tests per 1000 people per week were conducted. The positive rate is 6.65 percent, also down from the previous week.
Balikpapan, with a population of 646,020, recorded 3.72 tests per 1000 people per week; Badung recorded 3.32; and East Jakarta recorded 2.93.
In anticipation of the Omicron impact, national Covid-19 data shows 133 regencies/cities actively reporting higher daily testing numbers than before. Meanwhile, 173 regencies/cities recorded lower testing numbers compared to the previous week.
Outside Java, areas with the highest number of tests include Balikpapan (3.72 tests per 1000 people per week), Badung (3.32), and Mimika (2.34).
Although Covid-19 transmission has decreased in some areas, the government urges everyone to continue reducing transmission by wearing masks, maintaining distance, and frequently washing hands with soap and water. Avoiding crowds and reducing mobility also contribute to curbing the spread of the coronavirus.
