To curb the spread of Covid-19 in regions, 155 regencies/cities are currently aggressively conducting Covid-19 tests exceeding the national average over the past week. Data as of Saturday, August 20, 2022, shows a national average of 176.22 tests per week.
The top five, starting with the highest number of people tested per week, are Jayapura City (998 people), Indramayu (992 people), Banyuwangi (979 people), Bandar Lampung City (973 people), and Kutai Kartanegara (968 people).
Jayapura City ranks first. With a population of 309,760, the number of people tested in the past week was 998. The latest positive rate is 10.72 percent. The positive rate in this region increased compared to the previous week's ratio.
Next is Indramayu. In an effort to prevent the Covid-19 pandemic, the number of people tested in the past week was 992. The positive rate in this region is 1.51 percent, down from the previous week's ratio.
Furthermore, the number of people tested in the past week was 979 in Banyuwangi, 973 in Bandar Lampung City, and 968 in Kutai Kartanegara.
In anticipation of the Omicron impact in various regions, based on a recapitulation of national Covid data, 201 regencies/cities in Indonesia actively reported a higher number of people tested daily in the past week compared to the previous week. Meanwhile, 158 other regencies/cities recorded a lower number of people tested in the past week compared to the previous week.
Some of the regions outside Java with the highest number of people tested in the past week include Jayapura City, Bandar Lampung City, and Kutai Kartanegara, with 998, 973, and 968 people tested, respectively.
Although Covid-19 transmission has decreased in some areas, the government urges everyone to continue reducing Covid-19 transmission by always wearing masks, maintaining distance, and frequently washing hands with soap and running water. Avoiding crowds and reducing mobility also contribute to curbing the spread of the coronavirus.
