These are the World's Happiest Countries in 2023; Where Does Indonesia Rank?

Finland has again topped the list as the happiest country in the world this year. The Land of a Thousand Lakes has held the top spot consecutively since 2017, according to the World Happiness Report 2023.

“Finland remains at the top for six consecutive years,” the World Happiness Report 2023 stated on Friday, March 24, 2023.

Finland recorded an average happiness score of 7.804 points in 2023.

Several Nordic and European countries continue to dominate the list of the world's happiest countries. Denmark, for example, ranked second with an average happiness score of 7.586 points.

Next, Iceland and Israel had average happiness scores of 7.530 and 7.473 points, respectively. The Netherlands ranked fifth with an average happiness score of 7.403 points. Sweden's average happiness score was recorded at 7.395 points.

What about Indonesia's position?

Indonesia ranked 84th on this year's list of the world's happiest countries. The average happiness score in Indonesia was 5.277 points, the same as Albania.

Meanwhile, Afghanistan was the least happy country in the world, ranking last. The average happiness score of the "Graveyard of Empires" was only 1.859 points in 2023.

This happiness score was compiled from data from 137 countries over the past three years. The index score is measured based on six factors: GDP per capita, social support, healthy life expectancy, freedom to make life choices, generosity, and perceptions of corruption.
