Anticipating the impact of the rising Omicron variant, 211 regencies/cities aggressively conducted Covid-19 tests in the last week, exceeding the national average. Data from Tuesday, April 12, 2022, shows a national average of 263.67 tests per week.
The top five, starting with the highest, are Jayapura, Bima, Dairi, Lumajang, and Serang City, with 998, 991, 986, 985, and 961 tests per week respectively.
Jayapura ranks first. With a population of 129,450, 998 tests were conducted last week. The latest positive rate is 0.2 percent, lower than the previous week.
Next is Bima. With a population of 515,010, 991 tests were conducted last week. The positive rate is 0.4 percent, higher than the previous week.
Dairi recorded 986 tests per week, Lumajang 985, and Serang City 961.
Anticipating the impact of Omicron in various regions, based on national Covid data, 243 regencies/cities in Indonesia actively reported a higher number of tests conducted last week compared to the previous week. Meanwhile, 141 regencies/cities recorded a lower number of tests compared to the previous week.
Outside Java, some of the regions with the highest number of tests last week include Jayapura, Bima, and Dairi, with 998, 991, and 986 tests respectively.
Although Covid-19 transmission has decreased in some areas, the government urges everyone to continue reducing transmission by wearing masks, maintaining distance, and frequently washing hands with soap and running water. Avoiding crowds and reducing mobility also contribute to curbing the spread of the coronavirus.
