This week's Covid-19 statistics in Europe still depict a concerning situation, with high death tolls remaining in most countries. This week, 16 countries recorded an increase in deaths, while 15 others recorded fewer deaths than the previous week.
Percentage-wise, the five countries with the highest increase in deaths are Ireland, Greece, Austria, Sweden, and Ukraine. The total deaths in these five countries for the week ending October 30, 2022, amounted to 236, representing a weekly growth exceeding 37.18 percent.
Ireland recorded the highest increase in Covid-19 deaths in Europe, with weekly growth reaching 500 percent. Worldometer recorded six deaths in the country, compared to only one the previous week.
Next is Greece, which recorded 152.94 percent more deaths than the previous week. The country reported 43 more deaths than the previous week's 17. Deaths in Austria increased by 48.94%, deaths in Sweden increased by 42.86%, and Ukraine recorded 107 deaths (a 37.18% increase).
Looking at the number of reported deaths, Germany had the highest number of deaths in Europe over the past seven days, with 1,062. Reported deaths in the country decreased by 0% compared to the previous week. Following Germany, the UK reported 850 deaths (up 18.88%), Russia reported 591 deaths (down 7.94%), Italy reported 575 deaths (down 1.88%), and France reported 495 deaths (up 1.85%).
Total deaths in Europe over the past seven days reached 4,798. This accounts for 51.15 percent of global Covid-19 deaths, which totaled 9,381. The number of deaths in Europe increased compared to the previous seven-day accumulation of 4,660.
