COVID-19 statistics in Europe this week still depict a concerning situation, with high death tolls remaining in most countries. This week, 21 countries recorded an increase in deaths, while 15 others recorded fewer deaths than the previous week.
In terms of percentage increase, the top five countries with the highest increase in deaths are Serbia, Estonia, Malta, Slovakia, and Spain. The total deaths in these five countries as of Saturday, July 9, 2022, amounted to 667, with a weekly growth exceeding 98.4 percent.
Serbia recorded the highest increase in COVID-19 deaths in Europe, with weekly growth reaching 233.33 percent. Worldometer recorded 20 deaths in the country, a 33.33 percent increase compared to the previous day.
Next is Estonia, which recorded a 166.67 percent increase in deaths compared to the previous week. The number of deaths in this country was reported as eight, an increase of five compared to the previous week's three. Malta recorded 10 deaths (up 150%), Slovakia saw a 100% increase in deaths, and Spain saw a 98.4% increase.
Looking at the number of reported deaths, the highest number of deaths in the last seven days in Europe occurred in Spain, with 619 deaths. Death reports in this country increased by 98.4% compared to the previous week. Following Spain, Germany recorded 570 deaths (down 11.21%), Italy recorded 544 deaths (up 33.66%), France recorded 432 deaths (up 61.19%), and Russia recorded 334 deaths (down 14.14%).
The total number of deaths in Europe over the past seven days was 3,560. This accounts for 34.64 percent of global deaths caused by the COVID-19 virus, totaling 10,276. The number of deaths in Europe increased compared to the previous seven-day accumulation of 3,107.
