Based on the national Covid-19 data recapitulation, 88 regencies/cities aggressively conducted weekly testing exceeding the national average. Data as of Saturday, September 3, 2022, shows a national average testing rate of 22.09 percent. This testing achievement data is calculated based on the number of people tested compared to each region's weekly target, which is then reported to the Ministry of Health.
The top five, starting from the highest percentage of people tested per week, are Balikpapan City (445.81%), Surakarta City (323.17%), Sukabumi City (315.2%), Jayapura City (300%), and Semarang City (235.21%).
Balikpapan City ranks first. With a population of 646,020, the weekly percentage of people tested is 445.81 percent. The latest positive rate is 4.53 percent. The positive rate in this region increased compared to the previous week's percentage.
Next is Surakarta City. The population of this region is 519,800. In an effort to prevent the Covid-19 pandemic, the weekly percentage of people tested is 323.17 percent. The positive rate in this region is 4.42 percent, which has decreased compared to the previous week's percentage.
Then, Sukabumi City recorded 315.2 percent testing, Jayapura City 300 percent, and the weekly percentage of people tested in Semarang City was 235.21 percent.
In anticipation of the Omicron impact in various regions, based on the national Covid-19 data recapitulation, 85 regencies/cities in Indonesia actively reported a higher weekly percentage of people tested than before. Meanwhile, 276 other regencies/cities recorded a lower weekly percentage of people tested compared to the previous week.
Some of the regions outside Java with the highest weekly percentage of people tested include Balikpapan City, Jayapura City, and Metro City, with weekly percentages of 445.81 percent, 300 percent, and 193.71 percent, respectively.
Although Covid-19 transmission has decreased in some areas, the government urges everyone to continue reducing Covid-19 transmission by always wearing masks, maintaining distance, and frequently washing hands with soap and running water. Avoiding crowds and reducing mobility also contribute to suppressing the spread of the coronavirus.
