Star-Rated Hotel Occupancy Rates Decline in March 2024

The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) reported that the hotel room occupancy rate (TPK) for star-rated hotels in Indonesia reached 43.41% in March 2024.

This figure is down compared to February 2024, which was 49.45%, and March of the previous year, which reached 46.26%.

In March 2024, Riau Islands had the highest national TPK for star-rated hotels at 54.85%.

Acting Head of BPS, Amalia A. Widyasanti, explained that this achievement was driven by several national-scale events held in Riau Islands.

"Such as the Kepri Ramadan Fair 2024, Batam Wonder Food and Art Ramadan, and the launch of the Bintan Triathlon 2024," said Amalia in a press conference on Thursday (2/5/2024).

Following closely were East Kalimantan and Bali, which achieved TPKs of 53.49% and 52.71% respectively for star-rated hotels.

Meanwhile, the lowest TPK was recorded in West Sulawesi at only 22.58%, followed by Bangka Belitung Islands and Papua Pegunungan at 22.88% and 25.57% respectively.

Similarly to star-rated hotels, the TPK for non-star-rated hotels also decreased to 22.10% in March 2024. However, this figure is slightly up compared to March of the previous year, which had a TPK of 21.26%.

In March 2024, Bali had the highest TPK for non-star-rated hotels at 38.44%, followed by DKI Jakarta at 37.82%, and Central Papua at 36.26%.

The lowest TPK for non-star-rated hotels was in West Papua at only 12.12%, followed by Gorontalo at 13.75%, and Aceh at 13.96%.
