Indonesia's Star-Rated Hotel Occupancy Rate Drops in February 2026

According to a report from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), the occupancy rate (TPK) of star hotels in Indonesia reached 44.89% in February 2026.

This occupancy rate decreased by 2.64 percentage points compared to the previous month, and decreased by 2.32 points compared to February last year.

"The decline in the TPK of star hotels is generally influenced by the peak season of the Christmas and New Year holidays, as well as extreme weather conditions that also affect the decline in tourist visits to stay in star hotels," said Ateng Hartono, Deputy of Distribution and Services Statistics at BPS, in a press release on Wednesday (1/4/2026).

In addition, according to Ateng, Ramadan 2026, which began in the third week of February 2026, made tourists tend to refrain from traveling.

In February 2026, West Kalimantan became the province with the highest TPK of star hotels nationwide, reaching 56.27%.

It was followed by Bali and DKI Jakarta, which each achieved a TPK of star hotels of 55.44% and 51.72%.

Meanwhile, the lowest TPK of star hotels was in Papua Pegunungan, which was only 14.24%, followed by West Sulawesi at 18.20% and Aceh at 21.63%.
