Based on national Covid-19 data, 145 regencies/cities aggressively conducted Covid-19 testing above the national average. Data from Monday, December 26, 2022, shows the national average testing rate at 0.45 people per 1,000 population per week.
The top five, starting from the highest, are Central Jakarta, Balikpapan, South Jakarta, East Jakarta, and Gunungsitoli, with testing rates of 4.38, 4.38, 4.32, 3.13, and 2.91 people per 1,000 population per week, respectively.
Central Jakarta ranks first. With a population of 913,720, the testing rate is 4.38 people per 1,000 population per week. The latest positive rate is 3.3 percent, lower than the previous week.
Next is Balikpapan. With a population of 646,020, the testing rate is 4.38 people per 1,000 population per week. The positive rate is 0.67 percent, higher than the previous week.
Following this, East Jakarta recorded a testing rate of 3.13 people per 1,000 population per week, and Gunungsitoli recorded 2.91 people per 1,000 population per week.
In anticipation of the Omicron impact, national Covid-19 data shows 96 regencies/cities actively reporting higher daily testing numbers than before. Meanwhile, 220 other regencies/cities recorded lower testing numbers compared to the previous week.
Outside Java, areas with the highest testing rates include Balikpapan (4.38 people per 1,000 population per week), Gunungsitoli (2.91), and Badung (2.39).
Although Covid-19 transmission has decreased in some areas, the government urges everyone to continue reducing transmission by wearing masks, maintaining distance, and frequently washing hands with soap and running water. Avoiding crowds and reducing mobility also contribute to curbing the spread of the coronavirus.
