The top five cities with the highest number of tests per 1,000 people per week are: Balikpapan (4.17), South Jakarta (4.16), Central Jakarta (4.02), East Jakarta (2.91), and West Jakarta (2.73).
Balikpapan ranks first. With a population of 649,420, it conducted 4.17 tests per 1,000 people per week. The latest positive rate is 0.48 percent, an increase from the previous week.
South Jakarta follows, conducting 4.16 tests per 1,000 people per week in its efforts to combat the Covid-19 pandemic. Its positive rate is 2.05 percent, a decrease from the previous week.
Central Jakarta recorded 4.02 tests per 1,000 people per week, East Jakarta 2.91, and West Jakarta 2.73.
In anticipation of the Omicron variant's impact, national Covid-19 data shows 105 regencies/cities actively reporting higher daily testing numbers than before. Conversely, 158 regencies/cities reported lower testing numbers compared to the previous week.
Outside of Java, cities with the highest number of tests include Balikpapan (4.17), Mimika (2.51), and Badung (2.46).
Although Covid-19 transmission has decreased in some areas, the government urges everyone to continue reducing transmission by wearing masks, maintaining distance, and frequently washing hands with soap and running water. Avoiding crowds and reducing mobility also contribute to curbing the spread of the coronavirus.
